Doctors Antonella De Ponte and Desirée Trama Figueras, clinical co-leads at Dexeus Midlife and gynaecologists at Dexeus Mujer, played a prominent role at the 27th World Meeting of Sexual Medicine, one of the most significant international congresses in the field of sexual health, recently held in Porto.
The event, organised by the European Society of Sexual Medicine (ESSM) and the International Society of Sexual Medicine (ISSM), brought together leading experts from around the world to share the latest scientific advances and emerging therapeutic approaches in sexual medicine.
The two specialists presented two scientific posters focusing on gynaecological regenerative therapies and their impact on female sexuality. Their work explores the potential of these techniques to improve sexual function, wellbeing, and quality of life for women.
The scientific programme stood out for the breadth and relevance of its topics. Key issues relating to male, female, and couple sexual dysfunctions were addressed, alongside innovative therapeutic approaches. Among the emerging areas, the applications of artificial intelligence (AI) and virtual reality in the treatment of various sexological conditions were particularly noteworthy, opening the door to new tools for personalised care and enhanced clinical practice.
The congress also tackled socially relevant topics, such as the use of pornography in today’s population and its impact on sexual health, generating spaces for debate and reflection among professionals. The growing presence of these issues in clinical practice highlights the need to continue advancing research and education on sexuality from a comprehensive and up-to-date perspective.
The participation of the Dexeus team in this international congress reaffirms the commitment of Dexeus Midlife and Dexeus Mujer to research, innovation, and comprehensive sexual health care.
