On 24 April, the 20th Dexeus Mujer Foundation Award was presented to Prof. Kypros Nicolaides, a global leader and pioneer in fetal medicine. The ceremony brought together prominent public figures, including the Spanish Government Delegate in Catalonia, Carlos Prieto Gómez; the Catalan Minister of Equality and Feminism, Eva Menor, and Barcelona City Councillor Maria Eugènia Gay.
During the event, Nikolaos Polyzos, President of the Dexeus Mujer Foundation, highlighted Professor Nicolaides’ groundbreaking scientific and clinical career, which has transformed prenatal diagnosis and obstetric care worldwide. His pioneering contributions -such as the development of innovative prenatal screening strategies and minimally invasive foetal surgery- have become international standards and significantly improved maternal–foetal health outcomes.
The ceremony also underscored the Foundation’s strong commitment to research and innovation in women’s health. By honouring leading figures such as Professor Nicolaides, the Dexeus Mujer Foundation reaffirms its mission to promote scientific progress and enhance the quality of care in the field of maternal and neonatal health.
The award presented to Prof. Nicolaides took place within the framework of the 47th International Dexeus Congress, organised by the Foundation, which brought together in Barcelona some of the world’s leading experts in reproductive medicine.
